Yeah, I'm tearing this site down. No sense keep a dead forum. I'll leave it up for a short while longer in case anybody needs to find the FB group or PM each other, but beyond that, this is coming down.

Sorry, there's no way in hell I'm connecting my real life to a renegade bunch on FB. FB itself is horrible enough.

Been fun though folks.

I'm a little sad, seeing as I was one of the ones pestering for a forum for us to be super happy best friends on, but Toxie does all the work. And when I forum lately it's on OKCupid's General forum.

Definitely joining the facebook group, though, so you jerks keep in touch.

The OKCupid forums are exceptionally bad. However, they're a delight to troll sometimes.

I'm good for a little troll, when the mood strikes.

I actually have multiple FB accounts, I guess I could join one of my alter-egos.

"The face you present in a meeting at work is different from the one you present to your mom and different from the one you present to your friends on Friday night. Facebook absolutely sucks at making this distinction. Not only does Facebook suck at making this decision, they keep desperately trying to get you to post ALL your information to the world. The first social networking site with a clean interface and that understands that we all have split personalities is going to stand over Facebook's bloated corpse" - /.

I realized this was a problem when my mother-in-law joined Facebook, but at least I don't particularly care what she thinks (and since her English is somewhat spotty, she doesn't understand what I'm talking about half the time). But when my actual mother joined recently, ostensibly to look at pictures of my kids but is getting used to commenting and wall posts and all that...eh.

Yes, suddenly I was being "friended by people from work, people who had done work for me, people I knew in highschool, family, old family friends, neighbors ....

How can FB imagine that I want to share and link all those aspects of my life together? Some parts of life just need to be kept in silos.

I wonder ifGoogle Buzz addresses this conundrum at all.

EDIT:

For instance, the girl I'm seeing lately doesn't need access to every person in my life - some things need to be eased into. Similarly, the bawdy humor of my concrete contractor, while a fun read, is not something I want to share with my dear mother.
